Mountain Bird - Collection

At Mountain Bird, chickens live the way chickens were meant to live.

You'll find them scratching for bugs, sunbathing in the early morning rays, breathing crisp mountain air, and roaming fresh pasture every single day. They spend their lives on grass, outdoors, moving daily to new ground — free to express their natural instincts.

They get to simply be chickens.

That peaceful, attentive lifestyle produces exceptional meat: clean, flavorful, and deeply nourishing.

Raised with Intention

Mountain Birds are hand-reared in small batches and moved daily onto fresh pasture. Every detail of their care is deliberate. There are no GMOs, no hormones, and no antibiotics — ever.

The land receives the same respect:

  • No synthetic fertilizers

  • No chemicals

  • No bleach used in processing

Birds are processed on-site by a skilled and careful crew, minimizing stress and maintaining the integrity of the meat. Every step — from brooder to pasture to processing — reflects an understanding that small details matter. Because they do.

Rooted in Western Colorado

Mountain Bird is a family-owned and operated farm in Western Colorado. The journey began in 2015 — the same year the founders were married and began building Gray Acres. From farm interns to day laborers to entrepreneurs, they worked their way up through experience, grit, and a deep respect for the craft.

For years, they processed poultry for small farms throughout the valley, quietly "earning their chops" and building skill. But they saw a need — their communities deserved access to truly high-quality, pasture-raised poultry again.

So they built it.

With the mentorship and partnership of The Living Farm, their neighbors and teachers, they constructed the facility, brooder, and mobile pens that allowed Mountain Bird to grow into what it is today.

A Commitment to Quality

Mountain Bird continually refines its growing and processing practices with one focus: quality.

Quality of life for the birds.
Quality of stewardship for the land.
Quality of nourishment for the families they feed.

This is poultry raised with mountain air in its lungs and intention in every step.
