Why we are carrying Moon Hill Dairy:

Elizabeth Agee and Whitney Moore are Paonia locals who have forged a special relationship with a dairy out of Steamboat Springs. The cows come down to the North Fork Valley to graze in the winter and they support the dairy by marketing their cheeses in the summer! These two are integral members of our local food movement and we love supporting them!

A Little More About Moon Hill Dairy:

Their story begins in the heart of the Steamboat Springs’ Elk River Valley, a canvas painted with emerald meadows and kissed by the golden touch of the sun. Here, nestled amidst this breathtaking tapestry, graze our beloved heritage breed cows – a symphony of Brown Swiss, Jersey, and Guernsey, each note adding its unique melody to the chorus of our farm.

Unlike their confined counterparts, our girls are free spirits. They spend their days basking in the alpine sunshine, grazing in the cool mountain breeze, and feasting on nature’s bounty – a vibrant orchestra of nutrient-rich grasses that nourish their bodies and souls. This freedom, this deep connection to the earth, sings in every drop of the rich, creamy milk they produce – a milk that whispers of wildflower meadows and sun-drenched days.

Moon Hill Dairy is centered around holistic principles of herd management, soil health and beyond organic practices with all of our fruit. We practice rotational grazing and holistic nutrition with our dairy cows to produce the highest quality cheese possible-turning sunlight into supper! For our fruit production, the only inputs are sunshine, mountain runoff irrigation water and compost teas and foliar sprays. We adhere to all cottage laws for our charcuterie jams.
