The Story of Mountain Oven:
Mountain Oven is an organic bakery and millhouse devoted to supporting local food systems, run by Chris Sullivan and Dana Whitcomb.
This pie features apples from the North Fork Valley. These perfectly sweet apples are peeled and turned into pie filling with sugar n’ spice. This year’s Apple Pie will have a buttery oat crumb topping.
The grains are sourced directly from farmers and stone milled in house and the cultured butter is the best we can get our hands on!
Local Grain Crust: an all butter crust is made with locally Sonoran and Rouge de Bordeaux wheat that we stone mill in house fresh each day we are baking in the kitchen. We use cultured Organic butter to elevate quality and flavor of this all-butter crust. It is flaky and tender, a perfect compliment to the sweet and spiced filling inside. Before baking, we give our pies a wash of heavy cream and sprinkle of sugar on top to give them a sparkly shine.
Our pies are prepared with organic fruit sourced from amazing local orchards and growers. We feature a variety of local bounty in our kitchen throughout the year to capture the unbeatable flavor of North Fork Valley. We use only simple ingredients to make a wholesome treat that everyone can enjoy a slice of without worrying about preservatives and fillers. We hope these pies will become a memorable part of your holiday celebrations!
