The Story of Grey Acres Farm
You can find our birds scratching for bugs, sunbathing in the early morning sun rays, and breathing the fresh mountain air. They live their days out on the grass and get to be who they are: chickens.
Our Mountain Birds are hand-reared in small batches, moved daily onto fresh pasture, and processed on-site by our skilled and careful crew. This peaceful lifestyle produces exceptional meat that will nourish and satisfy.
We steer clear of GMOs and never use hormones or antibiotics. Our fields never receive any synthetic fertilizers, and we refrain from using any chemicals or bleach in our butchering. We pay attention to the little details, because we feel they go a long way.
We are a small family farm right outside of Paonia, Colorado. I lived on this small plot of land as an intern at The Living Farm for a few years. After some time away and searching for a home base, the opportunity to buy these few acres presented itself, and Gray Acres set it’s roots where it all began.

After several years of growing our various enterprises, our chicken business required a boost, a partnership was formed between mentor and mentee. Ben Gillespie - the fourth generation farmer - and I teamed up. We built a mobile processing unit and traveled the valley, processing birds high and low, hiring friends and family, and learning how to butcher safely and humanely. Eventually our production outpaced our processing capability, and we needed to step up our game. We officially formed Diamond G Poultry, a wholesale poultry brand, in order to build and operate a brick and mortar facility for us to butcher our own birds.
