Chef Joe Kerns is committed to using local and organic ingredients whenever possible, drawing on the incredible bounty of the North Fork Valley to create fresh, flavorful, nutrient-dense meals. While it isn’t always feasible to source every ingredient locally or organically, Joe prioritizes it whenever he can — ensuring each dish reflects both his values and the best ingredients available.

“Hello, my name is Joseph Kerns and I am the chef/owner of The Kissflower Bistro and Gallery in beautiful Paonia, Colorado. I am so excited to be a part of the Paonia Food Movement! I have worked in hospitality for over 15 years on various continents.

The last 7 of those years were spent in the North Fork Valley of the Gunnison. I have a feeling I may have met a few of you on the terrace at Azura or maybe at the tasting overlook at The Storm Cellar. To those of you whose acquaintance I have not made, I look forward to seeing you sometime. After many great years of residency programs at these wineries, I decided to try out the ole brick and mortar concept. Now we have a kitchen and restaurant/gallery space of our own located along the river in Paonia.

It is a dream achieved! Our kitchen provides us with the best space to prepare a wide array of foodstuffs. From our regular dinner services, to off site-catering, meal order systems and what began it all, pop-ups. Our two valleys provide us the incredible bounty to work with and the amazing community of people to share our work with. You have my word we will be trying our hardest to offer you the best, most delicious and nutrient dense eats. We appreciate you! ”
