About The Movement

The Paonia Food Movement seeks to accomplish 3 things.

1. Farming is one of the most difficult (and most important) professions on Earth.  The primary mission of the Paonia Food Movement is to support the farmers and makers of the North Fork Valley by providing them with marketing, sales, and transport of their goods.

2. We learned in 2020 the weakness of our supply chains, including our food supply chain, which relies on just-in-time delivery. The Paonia Food Movement seeks to strengthen our food supply by supporting local growers and encouraging consumers to eat locally as much as possible.

3. You are what you eat! When you eat locally cultivated, nutrient-dense, organically grown food, you will experience the benefits on many levels. Improved health, vitality, and energy abound when you eat the best food you can buy. The Paonia Food Movement wants people to experience these benefits. Healthy people, healthy local economies, and healthy environments all go hand in hand.

About Me

Two years ago I pledged to source my food as much as possible from the North Fork Valley, where I have lived for the last 8 years. In those 2 years, I have seen my body grow healthy and lean. I have saved money by avoiding processed foods at grocery stores as inflation rages. In addition, I have gotten to know and support the local organic farmers in my valley. I am passionate about local food, and all of the benefits that come with it.

My name is Sarah Peterson. For the last 4 years, I have been working with medicinal herb farmers in the valley to bring their herbs to market. Now I am expanding my efforts to support our valley’s food producers. I want people to experience the benefits of eating a primarily local, organically grown, whole food diet.
I’m excited to continue my support of the growers, makers, and creatives of the North Fork Valley by offering my marketing skills and providing delivery services to the Roaring Fork Valley, which is where I was born and raised.

Glenwood Springs is my hometown. My family still lives there, and that area will always hold a special spot in my heart. I’m excited to serve the Roaring Fork and bring the abundance of Paonia over the hill!
